The Serengeti-Lake Victoria Sustainable Water Initiative in the lower Mara River Basin, Tanzania is a MacArthur Foundation funded initiative to gather water security data about the social and ecological stakeholders in Tanzania's portion of the transboundary river system.
Human dimensions of development in the Blue Nile River related to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, funded by the Gray Family Fund, looks at perceived and actual impacts from changes to water resources for local, national, and international socio-ecological systems.
The Portraits from Rivers of Change project highlights river communities on the Mara, Nile, and Mekong Rivers with one thing in common - they are being displaced water development projects. These portraits serves as a visual memory of indigenous people's traditional way of life on rivers before the development changes local access to and use of water and other natural resources.
