Water Security

For over twenty years my research has centered on water security in a variety of geographies and subtopics that include transboundary rivers, dam construction, terrorism, water rights disputes, pipeline development, and water protectors. Each project and related publications are listed below.

Indigenous Water Security: Spotlight on Min Sosa (Missouri River Basin) Water Security

Co-created research on questions of water access, rights, justice as well as descriptions of some relational epistemologies carried by Indigenous communities' relationships with water.

Missouri River Threats from the so-called Dakota Access Pipeline

Collaborative research project looking at privately funded, publicly secured, oil development throughout the transboundary watershed scale of the Missouri River, especially centered on Indian Country.

Terrorism threats to water security - a global assessment

Using the Global Terrorism Database out of the University of Maryland, this research identifies, codifies, categorizes, and geosnatially analyzes longitudinal trends in water-related terrorist acts.
